Hey Everyone! I thought I'd do a tag today, I saw this going around on BookTube and thought it would be super fun. Basically it goes through all phases of courting in a relationship, super fun. The original creator is Leah at Hi I Love Books on YouTube Hope you guys enjoy! XOXO
PHASE 1: INITIAL ATTRACTION
A book that you bought because of the cover
A book that you bought because of the cover
The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender
by Leslye Walton
This book was 100% a cover buy, and it ended up being one of my favorite books of all time. In this novel we follow Ava Lavender and the women in her family. We start off with her grandmother's story, then her mother's and finally Ava's. It's such a beautiful tale of love, sorrow and friendship. I really enjoyed the writing, and it is just such a beautiful book inside and out.
PHASE 2: FIRST IMPRESSIONS
A book that you got because of the summary
More Than This
by Patrick Ness
This book was so intruging. The summary gives you no real idea about the plot but it grabbed me. It basically is about a guy, who dies in the first few pages, and he's trying to figure out why he woke up in his hometown, alone and naked. I needed to know WHY of course!
PHASE 3: SWEET TALK
A book with great writing
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
By Stephen Chbosky
There are no words to explain how wonderful and beautiful this book is! Reading it was so easy and it impacted me so much. It's about a boy who is really just trying to figure himself out and long the way he develops these friendships that become deep rooted and they keep him going in a sense. Being accepted is such a huge thing during the adoclecent years and Charlie really comes into himself in this amazingly written story.
PHASE 4: FIRST DATE
A first book in a series which made you want to pick up the rest of the series
Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1)
by Marissa Meyer
I had not read any fairytale re-tellings in a very long time, and one of my favorite fairytales in Cinderella. I went into this book, not expecting much. I mean its about cyborgs, and the future and stuff... but I was completely wrong. I loved this story so much, it was bad ass and a great twist on a classic tale. I enjoyed the world, the characters (Iko, is awesome) and the story and where it was taking me. I picked up Scarlet and Cress right away and have already completed those. Great series, can't wait for Winter to be released.
PHASE 5: LATE NIGHT PHONE CALLS
A book that kept you up all night
Where She Went (If I Stay #2)
by Gayle Foreman
So I read If I Stay, and the ending just left me needing more. I right away bought this ebook and read it all night long. I could not put it down, I needed to know what happened to Mia and Adam, so I did and the second book in this dualogy was AMAZING, If I Stay was good, but Where She Went blew it out of the water. It was addicting. I liked reading from Adam's perspective, fresh and honest. It was perfect.
PHASE 6: ALWAYS ON MY MIND
A book you could not stop thinking about
Fifty Shades Freed (Fifty Shades #3)
by E.L. James
Before you judge me, if you haven't read through the entire series, your opinion does not matter. This book was great. I learned so much about Christian and his mental disabilities, and he's overcome so much throughout this story. This book really made me love Ana's character, she never gave up on Christian, especially when he needed her the most. He faced his demons and came out if is stronger in the end. I really loved their story, it was raw and real. I'm happy I read through the series, it was totally worth it.
PHASE 7: GETTING PHYSICAL
A book which you love the way it feels
Harry Potter Series
by J.K. Rowling
Touching these books is awesome. Specifically the 2013 Scholastic Editions of Harry Potter with their velvety soft covers and the embossed lettering. A treat for my hands, I was totally afraid to ruin them, so yea, I bought the series and read the ebooks to avoid destroying them.
PHASE 8: MEETING THE PARENTS
A book which you would recommend to your family and friends
Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock
by Matthew Quick
I really enjoy anything that Matthew Quick writes. He is so good about getting in someones head so you can really understand their character. This is a story about a teenager that is about to kill his best friend and them himself. You follow him throughout the day and really get to know him and you just want to hug him and be his friend. All teenagers feel misunderstood and reading about his life from his perspective is heartbreaking and eye opening. This story is actually funny at times, but you really get a feel for who Leonard is and you look at teenagers differently at the end of this book. It's so worth the read.
PHASE 9: THINKING ABOUT THE FUTURE
A book or series you know you will re-read many times in the future
Landline
by Rainbow Rowell
This book really came to me at the perfect time. It is an adult contemporary about a married couple going through the stages of life and realizing that maybe things aren't right. Georgie struggles to find what went wrong in her marriage to Neal and maybe she's to blame for it all? It's a great story. As an adult, this story made so much sense to me. You tend to let life carry you away and before you know it, you realize that your relationships suffer and sometimes its too late to fix them, and sometimes you're just in time to make some necessary changes. Plus, there's magic in this one!
PHASE 10: SHARE THE LOVE
