My Review
Seth... Dies. Then he wakes up in his old house. The place is empty. He's outside, everything is rusted, old, stale. It's been sitting, uninhabited for years it seems. He's alone. Then we start the journey. It's really a story of survival. It's a story about what life has to offer and how we perceive it all, what we take away from it and how we react to our circumstances. The moral of the story is GREAT, once you get there.

I had a few issues with this story. Don't get me wrong. It was NOT a bad story at all. It has twists, it was interesting, the story had me on the edge of my seat. But I was so unsatisfied with the end of the book. I almost always finish a book eager for more, or happy or sad. After this, I felt nothing. That sucks! The beginning was very slow. Then it got so good. The end was action packed, you got some answers and then the ending came. Such a let down. I'm sure that was Patrick Ness' intent. To leave us feeling like there was more and just not giving it to us! The characters were great, Seth was amazing. Tomasz was probably my favorite. I just wish there was more, how ironic.

I think I would have enjoyed the book more if I knew that I wasn't going to get all my answers at the end. If I knew that the end wasn't the most important, climatic part of the story. The message of this story is deep and I appreciate that. I think I'll give this one a re-read and hope that my views change. It is beautifully written. You are always questioning what is reality and what isn't. I went into it expecting answers to all of Seth's questions, instead of trying to see the meaning of why he was going through all of this. Thanks Patrick Ness for fucking with my head! Good book, but I think I was expecting something different. I'm sure my rating will change when I re-read this one.
