TOP 5 WEDNESDAY | 29.OCT.2014 | HALLOWEEN RECOMMENDATIONS

This week's Top 5 Wednesday topic is "Books You'd Recommend for Halloween". I'll admit, I don't read very many spooky books, but I came up with a few that I'd love to read around Halloween time!

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

This books is GREAT! It's a middle grade book. It's about a boy who's family is murdered and he made his way into a graveyard as a baby.. and the inhabitants of the graveyard raised him. That's all I'm going to say about this story. Its amazing. I read it to my kids, it was lovely. It has spooky characters and the plot is adventurous as Nobody Owens grows up. Perfect for kids, perfect for Halloween.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

I haven't read this yet. BUT this is a perfect read. I mean, vampires living in our world? Why not?! Tana lives in a world where vampires have their own walled cities, Coldtown is one of them. Excited to read this, like for real... you don't even know!

The Savages by Matt Whyman

CANNIBALS! Yes, they eat people. It's not as gross as you might think. Although, you figure it out. I mean, enough said. Halloween read, no doubt!

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

This book is probably not what you think it is. Conor is a kid, he's 13. He's been having some nightmares. He's been going through some real struggles and then something happens.

We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver

This book puts some fear into me that I cannot explain. No, I have not read it. The synopsis alone scares me enough. I'm good. If you want to read about a murdering kid, this is the one for you. For sure too scary for me. Not because this is a kid killer. Mostly because it's about a mother and her son. I have a son, this is worst case scenario. It's a movie too, and I wont' watch it either! LOL.
