BOOK REVIEW | THE TWILIGHT SAGA BY STEPHANIE MEYER

Twilight... I read this series when Eclipse came into theaters. I went and saw it with a few friends. I thought it was a dumb story at first... before seeing the movie. I was a little lost not really knowing the storyline up until that point. I left the theater in awe, and needing to watch the first two movies. BUT FIRST! As usual, I had to read the books first. It's a thing I have, can't watch the movie w/o reading the book first. So that's what I did. Fell in love with the series obviously... and patiently waited for Breaking Dawn Part 1, and impatiently for Breaking Dawn Part 2. I enjoyed the series very much many years ago. Now as my more mature self, the angst in this series is unbearable! Don't get me wrong, I still love it, but get it together Bella! I don't think I'd let my daughter read this book until he's out of her formative years. What a bad example of a teenage girl... You can't "live" without a boy? That not what I want my daughter reading. But yes, the love story is good, Team Edward or Team Jacob? UGH! Nevertheless, I'm continuing to re-read the saga and I'll be updating this page as I complete the books.

I first read this after watching the movie Eclipse for the first time a few years ago... and I liked that movie. And curiosity got the best of me. I HAD to see the movies before that, BUT before I allowed myself to watch Twilight and New Moon I felt I should read the books first... and I am so glad that I did. I immediately fell in love with the series. Picked up Breaking Dawn and waited 3 years for the movies to come out. It was my guilty pleasure lol. I hadn't read the series in years! And as I got involved with a read-a-long on GoodReads I had the chance to pick up the series all these years later. Re-reading it was a great choice. I got so much more out of it as a more mature woman. The obsession Bella has with Edward made me cringe, but I will say the story was so intense and it really drew me in. I have different opinions about the characters now. I'm still team Edward, but Bella... ugh! She really frustrates me. I'm an independent woman to the fullest, so seeing her be so co-dependent was extremely frustrating. However, the story is amazing. It was necessary for her to be that way for this story to go where it went. I enjoyed this the second time around. Still one of my favorite series.

New Moon (Book 2)
Pages: 497
Rating:

Ahh. New Moon. I hated this book the first time I read it. I was so team Edward back then. So obviously him not being in every part of this story bothered me. But now, re-reading it, I appreciate the relationship that developed between Bella and Jacob. It bothered me out much she couldn't live without Edward, but that's just part of the story, necessary for this series to be what it is. All in all, I enjoyed it very much. I got found myself not being able to put it down at times. There was always something going on, and Bella learning all about Jacob was fun. The ending... obviously great.
