BOOK REVIEW | NICK & NORAH'S INFINITE PLAYLIST BY DAVID LEVITHAN & RACHEL COHN

"I always think of each night as a song. Or each moment as a song. but now I'm seeing we don't live in a single song. We move from song to song, from lyric to lyric, from chord to chord. There is no ending here. It's an infinite playlist."

SYNOPSIS
Nick's just seen the girl who dumped him walk in... with a new guy. What else can he do but ask the strange girl next to him to be his new girlfriend for the next five minutes?

Norah would do anything to avoid conversation with the no not-friend girl who dumped Nick... and to get over the Evil Ex whom Norah never really totally dumped. what else can she do but anser Nick's question by making out with him?

With one electric, unexpected kiss, the five-minute couple of Nick and Norah set off an uncharted adventure called the "first date" that will turn into an infinite night of falling in and out (and in and out, and maybe in and maybe out) of love. Theirs is a first date of music, laughter, heartache, confusion passion, taxi driver wisdom, and a jacket named Salvatore. And of course a killer soundtrack.

As Nick and Norah wander through the middle-of-the-night mystic maze of Manhttan, they share the kind of night you want to never end, where every minute counts and every moment flickers between love and disaster.

MY REVIEW
There's Nick, and there's Norah and there's Tris and there's Tal. And there is ONE epic night of figuring it all out. This book is the most real book I've read about teenagers, ever. They cuss, they are confused as hell, they are trying to figure it all out in one night. Nick has just been dumped and Norah is getting over the guy who basically sucked at being her boyfriend.

Then they meet, and it's electric. They connect on so many levels, through music and sarcasm. They really go through hit those peaks and valley's throughout this one epic night that seems to be never ending, and that's not a bad thing.

I can remember nights like that so clearly when I was young. To just be carefree and fall in and out of love in one single night. It's the best feeling in the world to not know what the you want and changing your mind a million times in one hour.

I really enjoyed this book. It was down to earth, realistic, funny as hell. Such a great read. I smiled so much while reading this short and sweet book.

SYNOPSIS
Do you believe there are ghosts and demons and Diviners among us? Evie O'Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City--and she is pos-i-tute-ly ecstatic. It's 1926, and New York is filled with speakeasies, Ziegfeld girls, and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is that she has to live with her uncle Will and his unhealthy obsession with the occult.
Evie worries he'll discover her darkest secret: a supernatural power that has only brought her trouble so far. But when the police find a murdered girl branded with a cryptic symbol and Will is called to the scene, Evie realizes her gift could help catch a serial killer.
As Evie jumps headlong into a dance with a murderer, other stories unfurl in the city that never sleeps. And unknown to all, something dark and evil has awakened....

MY REVIEW
I did not expect this book to be as creepy as it was. It really was sinister, but with a happy twist. We follow a few different characters: Evie, Memphis, Theata and Sam, all share a little something special. As we follow each of their storylines and meet them where it all connects as the city the live in is being turned upside down by a sinister and hellish character.

I really enjoyed the tone of the story. It really put you right into the 1920s. Evie was the picture perfect flapper. I really enjoyed Evie's character development throughout the novel. She's something special and that specialty really comes into play when she's on the hunt to find out who's murdering all these young people in the new city's she's living in.

The story is scary. Like I said before, sinister! I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to finish, but the story had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put it down. Each disturbing detail kept me needing to know more. I'd recommend this book to anyone with a less than weak stomach. Libba Bray really paints the perfect picture for you. The details of the story are perfect. She must have researched so much to get this world done just right.

It was beautifully written. I was addicted from the first page. This book would be a GREAT movie. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

TBR | JUNE 2015

SUMMER TIME IS HERE! And I've chosen the most un-summery reads. Lately I've been a little stressed out in my personal life that reading hasn't been super appealing to me. I totally failed last month with my TBR so this month I'm only going to choose 3 books in hopes that I can reach my goal and maybe even exceed it. I hope you all have a great reading month and I'll be snooping around the blogs and vlogs to watch and read reviews. Happy Reading!

The Diviners
Up first we have The Diviners by Libba Bray. This novel is set in my favorite era... the 1920's in New York City. It's a ghost story and from what I know it has some demons as well. I'm in the mood to be spooked and I feel like this book is just the one to get the job done. It's the first in a the Diviners Series, and I'm excited to find out exactly what a "Diviner" is.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
I am currently reading Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn. I saw the movie, it's one of my all time favorites. And in a way I'm glad I saw the movie first. Kat Dennings is probably my favorite actress so picturing her as Norah in the book is AWESOME! I'm a little ways through and this story is told is 2 perspectives, Nick and Norah's (duh). It's bascially about some prep school teenagers in New York's music scene. Nick is dealing the the worst break up ever (eye roll) and Norah is figuring some stuff out about herself and her future. They find eachother and their night begins. It's a short and sweet story. Can't wait to finish it.

A Storm of Swords
The third installment of A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin. I started out this series really wondering if I was going to be able to follow the gigantic list of characters, and oddly enough it is not as hard as I thought. Each character really has a distinct voice and it is not hard to follow each of the many story lines. I'm really looking forward to where this series is going. It always seems to shock me.

THURSDAY THIRTEEN | 04.JUN.2015 | TV SHOWS

Everyone has their favorite TV Shows. Some you enjoyed growing up, some you just enjoyed the drama and couldn't stop watching. Some you waited for each week for a new episode because it's captivated you. Watching TV is fun for me. I don't have a lot of time these days to get into new shows, but Netflix and the internet really give me the chance to go back and enjoy the shows I've loved in my life. From season 1 until the end, and repeat! Here is a list of 13 TV shows/sitcoms/dramas... that I have watched from start to finish, that just don't get old.

This show just really takes me back to my adolescence. I mean, I don't remember exactly what age I was when this show came out, but man... I remember sitting in front of the TV ready get pointers from Melissa Joan Hart about my life! I mean she knew it all right?

This show was the first time I ever wondered how relationships worked. I watched Kevin and Winnie fall in and out of love so many times. I cried and laugh and I remember how much this show impacted me. It really brings back some great memories. I loved everything about it.

YEEEEEESSSS! Daria was legit. Teen angst and she didn't give a F! MTV really go it right with this show. It was awesome. I was NOT very much of a Bevis and Butthead fan and Daria was so cool lol.

My favorite after school show. I watched this religiously every single day. It was pretty cheesy, but I still got some pretty good life lessons out of this show. And who didn't have a crush on Zach Morris!?

Angela Chase came a long in my life at the perfect time. High school is confusing, boys are confusing and life is a mess! My So-called life was so realistic on the things teenagers went through in those days. The 90's were rough, and these days are even harder. I wish we had content like this for teens these days.

Guilty pleasure for sure. Witches, sisters and drama. That's all I have to say. I mean, even drama behind the scenes. I have to say the original cast with Shannon was my favorite to watch. I loved this show!

A good laugh. Will smith was hilarious in this sitcom. To this day I still repeat some of the one-liners I got from this show. It's timeless. Every time I see an episode now I still laugh my ass off. It'll never get old.

There was no show like this one. The best jokes, the best writing really. This show is right up there with Friends for all time favorite. It was just perfect. Kids making mistakes and learning from them in the most hilarious ways. Red, who was my favorite... is probably the realest, best TV dad ever!

Mother/Daughter relationship GOALS! The perfect pair. I idolized Lorelei and Rory's relationship. So much so that I waited impatiently each week for a new episode. Watching Rory grow up on screen was awesome. I was obsessed with this series. Truly a classic.

Another guilty pleasure. I mean this show started about high school kids (which I was no longer) but I was obsessed with the story of this group of kids. They had some hard hitting topics throughout the years that really showcased some of the current issues in our society beautifully. And my favorite season 5 we jumped to adult hood and they were my age! It got even better for me at that point. This show was LIFE for a minute!

Yea. No need for explanation. This how was EPIC. Who didn't fall in love with Pam and Jim? They are my OTP for sure. and Michael? HA! Such a great show. Oh and Dwight... everything that came out of his mouth was so funny.

This show has a special place in my heart. I stayed up each week waiting to find out who the Mother was! And I've heard mixed reviews, but I was very satisfied with the ending. I loved how it all came together at the end. Ted and me are like the same person! We just want LOVE!

LIFE! Everything about Friends, from beginning to end was perfect. I can watch the same episode 100 times (which I probably have) and still laugh at the same jokes. Timeless doesn't even being to describe this show. Even after it's series finale people are falling in love with it.

WRAP UP | MAY 2015

Paper Towns by John Green

That's right. I read ONE book in May. I wrote my REVIEW on it, so check it out to see my thoughts on the story.

I loved it. It was great. Quentin annoyed me at some moments and so did Margo, but the adventure these kids went on is one for the books and I loved going along with them in this story. It was fantastic.

I'm a little disappointed with my reading this month, but to be honest, it happens. I have kids and everyone is graduating in my family this month, so I've just been so busy there's been no time for myself at all. Hopefully June will be better, at least the 2nd half when the craziness dies down.

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY | 27.MAY.2015 | BOOKS I WON'T READ. EVER.

This week's Top 5 Wednesday topic is Books I Won't Read. Ever! These are a list of 5 books I will definitely not be reading. No hate towards these books, but just not my style :) Please click on the book titles to find the Goodreads page for those novels, might not be my style but it could totally be yours!.

The Maze Runner by James Dashner

I've seen this book EVERYWHERE. I've seen the movie trailers and all the booktube reviews as well as blog review and I still have ZERO interest in reading this book. Not too sure why, it really just doesn't appeal to me.

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

Another one just like the Maze Runner, I've seen it everywhere and described by so many different people and yet, it does nothing for me. I'm just totally not into it. Which is the case for most of these books. I know there has been lots of love and lots of hate for this book. I'm neither, just not interested.

Alienated by Melissa Landers

I'm so NOT into alien stories, especially of the contemporary variety. I don't like alien stories. I have yet to come across any that even remotely sound appealing. I hear lots of good things, but I won't ever read this one. Like, ever!

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Megan Spooner

Another "spacey" kind of novel. Not interested. I love the covers of these kinds of books though. Very appealing, but just not enough for me to pick it up.

Legend by Marie Lu

I have seen lots and lots of reviews for this series. It has very mixed reviews and the bad ones are from some of the people that have the same taste as me, so I'm just not even going to try and waste time with this.

TOP 5 WEDNESDAY | 20.MAY.2015 | DEBUT NOVELS

This week's Top 5 Wednesday topic is Debut Novels! I totally thought this was going to be a hard one, but it turns out some of my favorite books are debut novels.... and here they are:

5. Divergent by Veronica Roth

I had no idea this was her debut novel. I am way late to the Divergent train (haha) but I could not put this down. I really loved the writing and all the characters. Tris is a great female protagonist. I really enjoyed her character development. While I did not enjoy the other books nearly as much, this one stuck with me and I loved everything about it.

My Review  Goodreads  Barnes & Noble  Book Depository  Amazon
4. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

I completely thought I was going to hate it. It's a gaming book and I'm not a gamer, unless you count flappy bird on my iPhone! I was completely taken by this novel just could not stop reading it. Wade's story and his adventures throughout this novel really grabbed me and kept my attention. I needed to know what was going to happen next.

My Review • Goodreads • Barnes & Noble • Book Depository • Amazon

3. Cinder by Marissa Meyer

This is a Cinderella re-telling (if you couldn't tell by the title and the cover). It is Marissa Meyer's debut novel and it was so good! I did not give it a 5 star rating as I wasn't really prepared for what this book had to offer. By the end of it, it just made me feel all the girl power feels. Cinder is a bad ass character and I love bad ass characters! It's a sci-fi take on the classic story and as things are totally different, you still get the Cinderella vibe and I really enjoyed reading this story and I continued through the entire series... just waiting for Winter now. The books get better as you go!

My Review • Goodreads • Barnes & Noble • Book Depository • Amazon

2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

There are no words to describe how precious this novel is. I loved this beautiful thing from start to finish. I still think about it to this day. Charlie is just the sweetest kid just trying to find his place while dealing with things no one should ever endure. It was amazing. There is a beauty about this novel that just can't be put into words.

My Review • Goodreads • Barnes & Noble • Book Depository • Amazon

1. The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton

It's a gem. It's a tragic story told in such a magical and beautiful way. The story is as unique as it's title. The protagonist Ava Lavender doesn't even exist until quite a ways into the story. We learn about the women in her family starting with her great grandmother and all the tragic loves up until Ava is born, with WINGS! This story introduced me to magical realism, which is probably now my favorite genre. I absolutely love this story and encourage everyone I come across to read it.
