For the week of March 18, 2015, the topic is Top 5 Bookish Habits! I tend to do a lot of bookish things, but the most common are what I've listed below. I think everyone who is a bookworm can relate. I myself have just developed so many habits over the years and I've noticed that they seem to be a pretty common thing among us book nerds. So here are my top 5 bookish habits.
I like my books to look nice. So I take every measure I can to make sure that my books are not damaged and the most vulnerable part of a hardback book is its dust jacket. So I take them off as I'm reading that book. Leave it on the bookshelf and replace it ONLY when I've finished the books. I think everyone does this.
For some reason... I don't want to waste money on actual book marks. But post-it notes are always readily available to me, so I just use them as my book mark. I leave a couple on the inside cover and use as needed. I can directly underline the section I'm on and write down a note if I like. Super convenient for sure.
Yea.... they go everywhere with me. I'm so afraid of having down time, and not have anything to do. I'm not a fan of boredom, so if I can take a book, I always do. And on those rare occasions I can't take one I always have books on my phone to read.
I like to know my progress and how fast I read my books. It's satisfying to see how close I am to being all done with a book. I'm reading several at the moment and this just helps me keep track on what I'm doing and how far I've gotten on each book. I freakin' love goodreads.
I utilize my local library and the county I live in actually has a library you can borrow electronic items on. So if I'm reading a book and the title happens to be available in audio book or ebook.. I always download them. It saves time. If I'm cleaning my house, running errands or driving around I can totally just listen to the book I'm currently reading for FREE. I had audible... waste of money to be honest. I use my local library and I've always been happy.
Taking the dust jacket is definitely something that I do every time I read a hardcover book. I really hate messing those dust jackets up, especially if they're beautiful. And goodreads! I love updating goodreads just to see my progress! It always makes me feel like I've accomplished something when it goes up :)
ReplyDeleteMost of us listed taking the dust jackets off. Great for displaying but not practical otherwise.
ReplyDeleteFor the longest time, I also only used post-its for bookmarks, but I've been receiving a lot of cute ones as gifts lately, so now my habits are changing.
