Synopsis
As war surges in the factions of dystopian Chicago all around her, Tris attempts to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love. My Review
I really enjoyed book 2. I made one big mistake though... I went and saw the movie in the middle of reading this book. I regret it so much. The facts got jumbled but as I kept pushing and reading... I saw all the differences in the book compared to the movie. The book had so many necessary details that the movie leaves out. But this is a book review so I'll continue with that.
Tris struggles with so much in this second book. Loss, love and loyalty all hit her like a ton of bricks and she's desperately holding herself together, while at the same time trying to save everyone and find the truth.
It is a great book, you really feel the connection between Tris and Tobias as well as the other relationships she's developed, with Christina for example. You really get an inside look at the demons she's holding inside and how shes coping (or not coping) with everything around her. There were moments that I couldn't stand Tris, but by the end of the book those moments were necessary to understand her journey.
All in all, it was okay, but that was really my own fault. I'll be continuing with the series and even though I know what happens in Allegiant, I'm curios to see how it all goes down.
